The Sacred Heart Public School and Junior College was established in the year 1996 with the foresight of its Patron His Grace Mar Joseph Powathil and is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi. The School caters to the age group 3 years to 18 years from classes LKG to XII and to the academic needs of the people in and around Changanacherry irrespective of their community, caste and creed. Since its inception, it has been growing steadily and rapidly. The college insists on quality education that develops the curricular and co-curricular talents of the students in a disciplined environment.

The Sacred Heart Public School and Junior College established in 1996 offers an education system in conformity with the required standard of Central Board of Secondary Education. The intention of the school is to make quality education within the reach of the common people. The school promotes sound moral, literary and scientific education to pupils. In short, we train the students to become academically excellent and useful citizens of India. The School has a judicious mix of Montessori method of teaching and the ancient Gurukula system. Here, equal importance is given to both curricular and co-curricular activities. It gives individual care and personal attention to students. In order to achieve this, the number of students in each class is limited to 35.

Besides the 'open house ' for parents to asses their wards after each terminal exams, the school holds workshops and conscientisation programme for teachers and parents in each term.

The school has outstanding achievements in curricular and co-curricular activities. Our students have toped in the PCM , Nettikaden Scholarships. Yoga, drawing, dance, music are the co-curricular activities offered by the school. Teaching catechism / moral instruction is an important part of the curriculum. SUPW provides an excellent opportunity for the self development of the pupils.
